The people behind SK2 are Ignacio Oliva-Velez a naval architect with long time experience on super yacht design and project management, and stylist Roel de Groot also a long time expert in the super yacht industry.

Ignacio Oliva-Velez

Naval architect and helm

Ignacio is a naval architect, trained in Cadiz, and with an extensive history in the yacht and super yacht industry as a designer, project manager and yard manager.With an extensive yacht racing history going back to his great-great grandfather his family have owned and campaigned early meter boats such as ‘Mouchette’ (Int 12M) Folly (Int 8M) followed by IOR and box rule yachts such as ‘Fjord VI’ or GP26 Merk2 to a lovingly restored classic Dragon called ‘Octavia 1950’. Ignacio earned his stripes on a Snipe, a Laser, a Soling, the Dragon, an RS Vareo and most recently a 505.

This history, experience and expertise has been brought together to create SK2.

Roel de Groot

Yacht stylist and crew

Roel is a yacht stylist and interior designer with over 20 years experience in the yacht and super yacht industry and running his own UK based design studio called Roel de Groot Design since 1998. With a father that was a sailing instructor in his youth Roel found himself crewing race boats in Ireland, Florida and Canada before becoming involved in the 707 fleet in the UK followed by a Laser 5000 and most recently a 505 together with Ignacio.

This experience and knowledge has added to the development of SK2.
